So take advantage of this natural medicine and create your own blam from magnesium. It can be applied to the epidermis (it really doesn’t matter where as long as you don’t have an open wound) about an hour before bedtime to maximize the effectiveness. Here’s what you need for the magnesium body butter recipe and how to do it:

  • 1 tablespoon magnesium oil
  • 1/2 oz beeswax
  • 20 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops cedarwood essential oil
  • 20 drops vanilla extract
  • 6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

Directions:

  1. Put the beeswax and olive oil either in an oil boiler or in a mason jar on a pan surrounded by water. Both techniques work. Use low heat to preserve the oil.
  2. Remove from the heat and add the magnesium and oils. Quickly whip the mixture as you add each part to make a sort of cream.
  3. Place the mixture into either a refrigerator or freezer to harden. The cream should be solid within 30 minutes, give or take.
  4. When cool, apply to face, neck, shoulders, and arms. Basically anywhere that feels tense.

Some people are skeptical of the effects that magnesium could have on their systems, but the science behind the theory is solid. Magnesium and essential oils are perceived by your olfactory senses and are then relayed throughout the rest of your central nervous system. The olfactory senses are located in the limbic system, which is the part of the brain that contains memories and emotions. So what you perceive in the limbic system closely dictates how you feel. In layman’s terms, you’re smelling something that makes you calmer. So apply a magnesium salve to feel calmer and get a restful night’s sleep.

Which is why people under chronic stress find themselves with a magnesium deficiency.

Moreover, a lack of magnesium in your system can magnify the adverse effects of stress, causing an exponential increase the the mental and physical damage that stress can wrack on the body. So a DIY magnesium gel can really help you relax, especially in times of increased stress. Hence, why your body can find sleep more easily with magnesium.
