The best thing about slow cooker recipes is that they can be left unattended for a long time with no concerns. For some, you can even leave it cooking when you go to work and come back home only when it’s done.

But even for the “quicker” ones, there’s more than enough time to focus on other dishes, take a shower, relax, catch up on Stranger Things Season 2…

Or you can take the time to make ANOTHER delicious recipe using the oven, since it will be free the whole time!

1. Slow-Cooker Roast Beef Sandwiches

Nothing like a good old roast beef sandwich to kick things off.

This irresistible dish is both simple and stylish, providing guests with a tender beef treat so delicious they will never forget. And it renders 4 servings in one go, so you can surely feed the whole family!

2. Slow-Cooker Creamy Beef Stroganoff

This is pretty much a classic beef stroganoff, except a bit healthier, and just as rich and delicious as ever.

And it’s so easy.

You can put almost all of the ingredients on the cooker straight away and wait for it to cook on low for about 8 hours. When on the last 30 minutes of cooking you come in and add a mixture of flour and beef broth, then cream cheese and sour cream, and stir until thickened. Finally, stir in your chosen noodles until cooked and serve immediately!

3. Slow-cooker Chicken Alfredo

Cook time: 2.5 hours

If you want a slow-cooker recipe that isn’t that slow, this marvellous Chicken Alfredo only takes about 2.5 hours to be ready to serve.

Basically it’s two full hours cooking on high, until you cook the chicken well enough. Then, for the last 30 minutes you remove the chicken, shred it, put it back in, and then stir in pasta and parmesan until cooked.

Simple and delicious!

Note to self: my stomach seems to have a problem with pasta because I’m positive I heard it growl.

4. Slow-cooker Short Ribs

These delicious and juicy short ribs are a piece of work, but they absolutely pay off once you serve them — it’s a main course so amazing people would write home about it.

Or for a more modern reference: it might be so good they post a picture of it on Instagram. And you get a bunch of “Likes”. Instagram has “Likes”, right?

I’ll stop making references that reveal my true age now.

5. Easy Slow-Cooker Lasagna

A super simple lasagna for a slow-cooker — you can let it cook for about 4 hours, which is more than enough time to work on other dishes…

And most importantly, you leave the oven totally free the whole time! So if you want to work on something extra, you have the time and the resources. Talk about being time-efficient.

I like to think there’s always a lasagna cooking while I’m writing… sometimes I can even smell it…

Note to self: I need an apartment that isn’t right beside a restaurant.

6. Slow Cooker Portuguese Fish Stew

This delicious cheesecake doesn’t take that long to make either — only about 2 hours to cook and then about 4 hours in the refrigerator to let it chill properly. By the time the main course is served, your cheesecake will be ready to go.
