Sauces don’t have to be difficult to make. In fact, some only need two ingredients total. While you can find a recipe for anything online, there are some easy sauce recipes that are a cinch to make. It doesn't matter if you’re in the mood for something cheesy, spicy, or creamy, we’re sure something will strike your fancy.

Garlic Butter Sauce

Here’s an easy one that’s hard to mess up. You only need a few ingredients and some pasta to put it over. When it comes to sauce recipes for pasta, this one’s a no brainer. Feel free to add shrimp or a white meat to compliment the flavor. All you need for garlic butter sauce is:

  • ⅓ cup butter
  • 1 clove garlic (crushed)
  • ¼ tablespoon basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • Saute in a pan and pour over the pasta

Soy Sauce Sriracha Combo

Here’s an easy way to make sauce when you’re low on ingredients. Sriracha and soy sauce make for an interesting combo, and you’ll probably find both in the back of your fridge. The ratio is up to you and how spicy or thick you want the sauce to be. When it comes to quick sauce recipes this might actually be the quickest.

Tartar Sauce

Why purchase tartar sauce when you can just make it yourself? All you really need to create this easy sauce for fish is mayo and relish. If you don’t have relish, chop up some pickles. If you don’t have mayonnaise, Miracle Whip will do in a pinch. Just combine the two parts to your desired consistency. If you want to get fancy, you can throw in some lemon juice, scallions, or capers. Or you can simply serve as is.

15 Minute Marinara

We wouldn’t leave out easy tomato sauce recipes. And who says that Marinara sauce has to be difficult to make? Here’s a quick and easy way to compliment nearly all Italian food, or just to serve with mozzarella sticks. First, gather three garlic cloves, a can of crushed tomatoes, red pepper, salt, and basil. Then follow these instructions:

  1. Heat up a saucepan at medium heat and add the garlic, oil, and pepper flakes
  2. Add tomatoes and salt, bring to a boil
  3. After 12 minutes, kill the heat and let simmer. Mix in the basil

Regular Old Spaghetti Sauce

What is pasta and meatballs without the sauce? Here’s a traditional recipe for the more orthodox cook. There are many sauce recipes for pasta and here’s our favorite. This one is a tomato lover’s dream. Just throw the following ingredients into a saucepan and simmer for about twenty to thirty minutes.

  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp red pepper
  • ½ tbsp basil
  • ½ tbsp pepper
  • ½ tbsp oregano
  • ½ tbsp salt

Here’s another easy entry that’ll leave you wondering why you didn’t use it earlier. Used as both a dipping sauce and a topping for pasta, fish, and nearly anything you can think of, Aioli sauce perfectly complements nearly every meal. All it takes is some heavily minced garlic, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and salt. Season everything to taste. If you want it thinner, add more lemon juice, if you want it thicker, go heavy on the mayo. You can’t go wrong with this simple sauce recipe.

Easy Cheesy Saucy

Last but not least, we couldn’t make a sauce recipe without including at least one cheese entry. This simple cheese sauce goes great over anything. Seriously anything. Try it over broccoli, potatoes, pasta, fish, meatloaf, whatever the family is having that night. This is one of those easy sauce recipes that can be drizzled over anything. Add each ingredient in order, slowly, while continuously mixing and simmering over low heat.

  1. ¼ cup butter
  2. ¼ cup flour
  3. Stir and simmer
  4. 2 Cups milk
  5. Stir and simmer
  6. ⅛ tsp dry mustard
  7. Pinch of cayenne
  8. Pinch of salt
  9. Stir and simmer
  10. Slowly add 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  11. Serve immediately
