We’re happy to tell you that Fall is a fantastic time to plant! Along with seasonal advantages like less maintenance and optimal time for Spring harvest, there are many plants and vegetables that benefit from the Fall season. It’s also the best time to plant trees and shrubs!

Let’s go over all the advantages so you can start preparing!

“There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart. – Jane Austen

Way less watering required

Cooler weather means you don’t have to water your plants as much, so it's easier for you to take care of them and less maintenance to worry about.

Of course, you still have to do regular watering, but not nearly as much as during Summer, for example. Watch your plants and how they react to the new season – your watering routine will vary depending on their type and whether they’re recently planted or not, but you can certainly expect to water less during Fall.

Plants transported from small pots will adapt much faster and easily to new soil during Fall. Transplanting a bigger sample can be troublesome and would require constant attention to make sure the process goes smoothly. Smaller plants, however, are a lot easier to deal with and shouldn’t give you any trouble.

You can plant late

There’s absolutely no rush to plant as soon as Fall starts, in fact, you can plant up to 6 weeks before the freeze. During this period, the roots will have enough time to grow and settle, so when the first frost comes they will remain preserved until Spring.

Of course, some areas in the United States don’t have snow or frozen ground at all, so just to be safe, planting up until mid-November is a pretty safe deadline for Spring blossom.

Fall is considered the best time for planting trees and shrubs, because they also benefit from going through the winter for a proper spring bloom – for shrubs anyway, but trees also benefit from respecting this timeline! It makes for an optimal seasonal flow that allows your trees and shrubs to be safe when they need it most, and ready to bloom when the time is right.
