Halloween is right around the corner, and there’s no better time to enjoy the holiday to bond with the family and create some new memories together. Here’s a list of spooky decorating tips to make your house come alive with Halloween spirit as well as some fun activities to have some valuable family time.
Yarn Spider Web
This is an interesting and inexpensive way of decorating the house for halloween. Grab some yarn, scissors, scotch tape, and maybe some plastic spiders. Start by making the frame, taping the end pieces of yarn to create an X and other crisscrossing lines. Then, tie a new piece of yarn on a line closer to center of the web and start weaving by going over the line, looping it back under and going to the next one. Easy! Don’t worry about making it perfect: the imperfections is what makes it more creepy and fun.
Friendly Front Door Mummy
How about welcoming your guests and your trick-or-treaters with a mummified door? You can make the eyes with white printer paper and black contact paper, and use crepe paper streamers to wrap the door. Make sure you mix up the direction of the strands and do a lot of overlapping. Use double sided tape to keep the strands in place and clear packing tape on the edges of the door, after you tear all the excess of strands off. Very easy and cheap DIY!
Wall of Bats
A simple way of decorating the house for the holiday is by adding some bats. It’s fun, cute and just a little bit spooky. In this post by Made Everyday, you can learn how to make the bats and download a printable template so you can get started. You only need some black cardstock or construction paper, scissors and tape. With the older kids’ help, you can easily get a lot done very quickly and be able to arrange them in a stream. Looks fantastic!
Trick-or-Treating
For the kids, nothing is more fun than going trick-or-treating on halloween. Choose some nice costumes together and take the time to go around the neighborhood with them. It allows your family to have some valuable time together, bonding and creating new unforgettable memories.

To set the mood, turn off the lights, light the fireplace, and set some pillows on the sofa and on the rug. Pop some popcorn, have some candy, pass some flashlights around, and get the stories going.
