Lev Leviev Estate
On the most expensive private home ever built in the United Kingdom, there is an Israeli billionaire by the name of Lev Leviev. In 2008, he commissioned a massive pool to be built on his estate at a value of 68 million dollars, or 35 million pounds. It is one of the most expensive swimming pools in the world! The Lev Leviev pool is equipped with a rather elaborate retractable cover that transforms the pool into a classy ballroom. Oh, and it also boasts a spa and sauna, of course.
Seagaia Ocean Dome Miyazaki
Like something out of a science fiction movie you’re only read about, the Seagaia Ocean Dome is a completely man made indoor beach. The sand is artificial, the indoor sky is always bright and blue, the temperature consistently remains a balmy 86 degrees fahrenheit, and yes, the artificial volcano actually spits fire. It has the world’s largest retractable roof, which opens in four locations, and earned a place in the Guiness Book of World Records for such. Admission for tourists is quite reasonable, priced at ¥2600 ($21) for adults and ¥1600 ($13) for kids. As expected, it’s also one of the most expensive swimming pools in the world.
San Alfonso Del Mar
This private beach resort had the most expensive swimming pool in the world back in 2006. Since then it has been dethroned, but the structure still remains a wonder of the vacationing world. The San Alfonso Del Mar is 3,323 feet long and 11 feet deep at its deepest point. Although the pool is no longer open to swimmers, there are still boats and scuba divers.
City of Stars in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt
At a whopping 5.5 billion cost to build, this is the most expensive swimming pool in the world. Completely manmade but resembling a shoreline, the Crystal Lagoon mega-pool is something out of a fantasy novel. It is also the largest swimming pool in the world.
