Dogs are very susceptible to get ticks when they play outside, and ticks can carry several diseases, so it’s incredibly important that you keep them away. Tick Collars
Dog collars to keep ticks off dogs are affordable and effective. They work by releasing a pesticide that gets absorbed into your dog’s skin, therefore making him tick-proof - and it’s totally safe for your pet! In addition, your furbaby can still swim and bathe without jeopardizing the effects of the collar.
Spot-On Treatment

Powders
You need to be more careful when using powders to kill and repel ticks from your dog, make sure you’re using a powder that’s appropriate for your dog’s age. And when applying it, be careful and keep it away from your dog’s eyes and mouth since it can be toxic! Add a bit at a time and slow rub it into the dog’s skin. It may not be the best way to remove a tick from a dog but it will help for a while.
Tick Shampoo
If you bathe your dog often, this can be a good choice for the season. It’s an inexpensive method, but the ingredients don’t last long. You’ll need to repeat the process every two weeks - at least.
This is one of the most used tick and flea shampoo, but be sure to contact your veterinarian before using any brand!
Tick Spray
Some advantages of spray on treatment:
- Most of them are created to have a good scent
- They’re effective for about sixty days
- They attack parasites - including fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes - during every life stage
- Once the spray has dried after the application, it’s safe for the pet to be around children, adults and other animals
Oral Medications
You’ll need to get a prescription from a vet to use this type of medication - they can come in pills or tablets. It can vary from giving the medication to your dog once a day to once every three weeks. Pay attention because some pets might have side effects such as vomiting!
Essential Oils
