New Leaf

New Leaf was founded in 2008 by a young man who had grown up working for his grandfather�s construction company and had graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2004. Moving to Tacoma, Shane Beck took a job as a construction superintendent with a large home builder where he played a key role in the construction of over 1400 homes and the development of several new neighborhoods. Working with dozens of specialty professionals such as subcontractors, architects, and engineers on a daily basis implanted Shane with an attention to detail that is second to none. He learned the major benefits of proper planning and sequencing construction activities.
Shane, seeking to secure his livelihood, founded New Leaf as the burst of the housing bubble began to appear inevitable, and invited his longtime friend and old college roommate, Robert Cole to join the team.

Working with his father literally all his life, Robert not only learned the basics of carpentry and construction, but most importantly he was ingrained with the priceless values of hard work and high-quality craftsmanship. Robert had also grown up with a hammer in his hand as Robert�s father operated a company that designed custom cabinets. After months of coercion from Shane, Robert finally agreed and left his job as a journeyman electrician to begin the process of growing New Leaf from a garage operation to a full service general contractor.
New Leaf was started at a desk in Shane�s living room with nothing but a lot of determination and $500.00. Shane and Robert started everything from the very bottom, completing small projects for homeowners and property managers. Word of the quality of their work and competitive price quotes quickly spread through the asset management community. As the housing bubble bled into the recession, New Leaf became the premier contractor at rehabilitating distressed properties in Washington State. As the recession subsided and New Leaf went from rehabilitating distressed properties to remodeling kitchens, both Shane and Robert became frustrated with the options presented in the Puget Sound area for cabinet and countertops. Poor service, sky high prices, and inferior products flooded the market. Keeping this in mind, New Leaf used its buying power formed during the recession to become a prime factory direct cabinet dealer.
