Every year that goes by, I look forward to finding out what is the color of the year according to Pantone. Not only because I’m a decoration maniac, but also because Pantone’s colors are incredibly gorgeous. I’m amazed every single year and I can’t get tired of it. So, without further ado, here’s Pantone Color of the Year for 2019!

What Is Pantone 2019 Color of the Year?

Pantone’s color experts look for inspiration in all types of places, from the film industry to fashion, socio-economic conditions, even social media platforms, and sporting events. PANTONE 16-546 Living Coral is a vibrant and bright color that provides warmth, comfort, and playfulness.

According to Pantone’s website, the idea for this color is that it brings out how mesmerizing our ecosystem is - since it refers to the coral reefs that “provide shelter to a diverse kaleidoscope of color.

From where I’m standing, this is a great color to follow 2018’s Ultra-Violet, which represented innovation, luxury, and mystique in a darker hue. This year came with the vivid living coral to overcome that and bring a fresh look to our lives!

You can paint a whole room, you can add an accent wall or even an accent ceiling. Painted ceilings are becoming more popular and this color would definitely make a gorgeous room to hang out in - especially if the job is done by a pro!

If you have any old furniture, you can take the opportunity to renew that too - such as reupholstering couches or painting an old cabinet.

There’s nothing like coming home feeling the energy of a color like living coral. As Pantone’s mentioned on their site, this color “welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity, which is the perfect way to get home and relax after a busy day. It’s even inspired to look at, can you imagine getting home to a front porch like this? I’d certainly love it!

There are many ways to use this color in your kitchen, aside from the accent wall idea I mentioned above, you can try:

  • Adding a new look to your kitchen cabinets
  • Installing a backsplash with living coral tiles (or simply paint your current one)
  • Rethink your countertop type to add color there
  • Update old appliances with new, trendy coral ones

Whichever idea you go with, I’m sure it will make your kitchen look a lot more modern and fun! Colorful kitchens are great for people who spend a lot of time cooking, and the living coral is guaranteed to help you feel inspired and enjoy the time over the stove.
